Position Details: School Nurse

• Title: School Nurse
• Location: Framingham, MA
• Duration: August 25, 2025 - June 18, 2026
• Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
• Position Type: Contract
• Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., Monday to Friday
• Student Age Group: Grades 6-8

Responsibilities: School Nurse

• Provide skilled nursing assessments
• Administer routine emergency first aid
• Manage the medical needs of scholars and staff
• Conduct immunization and asthma surveillance
• Conduct state-mandated health screenings
• Coordinate medication and first aid procedures for all out-of-school expeditions
• Act as a liaison between parents of scholars with complex medical or emotional needs and medical professionals
• Provide annual training for staff and faculty
• Interpret medical data for the faculty
• Provide individual health plans for select scholars
• Provide emergency medical care to scholars
• Administer and/or supervise the administration of prescription medication to scholars
• Counsel and/or educate scholars in small groups or as individuals concerning medical issues
• Monitor and assess compliance with immunization standards as per DPH regulations
• Perform vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other health-related screenings as required by DPH
• Develop and maintain contacts with medical personnel or facilities for direct service or consultation
• Participate in meetings regarding scholars when medical input, interpretation, or consultation is needed
• Conduct formal workshops and/or informal training for staff as appropriate
• Maintain updated health records

Qualifications: School Nurse

• A valid license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in the relevant field.
• Valid certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• A minimum of two years of community health or pediatric nursing experience
• Computer literacy and competency in the use of existing technology
• Completed the required Massachusetts school nurse competencies or be willing to attend and complete courses
• Strong communication skills
