Kforce has a client in Fremont CA that is seeking a Material Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Treating -soft goods- materials as the product you will be responsible for developing surface materials and their composite constructions that can fulfill seating and interior product requirements through the entire product lifecycle from concept to production: Concept generation concept selection detailed design validation manufacturing feasibility production process sustainability
* Derive material-level requirements from system-level requirements through instrumented observation of system interactions and analyzing them in context of system specifications
* Correlate specifications to end-product reliability data
* Work closely with product design engineers and testing engineers to validate material part you will be a product design engineer too
* 3D and 2D documentation of material design data integrated with system design documentation such as CAD and 2D drawings
* Participate and manage collaborative efforts with other departments within the Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure system integration and compatibility
* Cross-functional technical communication with Commercial Quality and Supplier interfaces
Required Skills : * Bachelor s or Master s of Science in pertinent engineering disciplines (Mechanical Materials Textile Product Design etc.) * 4 years of experience with artificial leather textiles polyurethane foams other polymers and elastomers * Experience with instrumentation and quantitative analysis including stress and strain testing abrasion testing flexure failure analysis microscopy * Proficiency in all channels of technical communication: 3D modeling 2D drawing hand sketching hands-on prototyping data collection and presentation * Evidence of Exceptional Ability. Organized. Self-motivated; Able to manage progression through tight timeline; Navigate technical challenges with first-principles Solid fundamental knowledge of: * Mechanical engineering: statics kinematics dynamics vibrations GD and T statistical analysis * Materials engineering: chemistry microstructures polymer science * Textile engineering: woven and knits non-woven composites
