THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

The Education Audit Appeals Panel (EAAP) was established in 2002 to serve as a neutral arbiter in both informal and formal administrative appeals by K-12 local education agencies. In addition, to hearing appeals, EAAP is responsible for adopting the annual audit guide used by auditors in reviewing K-12 education agency compliance in accordance with statutory timetable. EAAP plays a critical role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness in California's education audit process.

Join our team at EAAP as a Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) and play a key role in shaping education policy across California. In this role, you'll help manage the appeals process for school audits and lead the development of key documents used by auditors statewide.

What You'll Do:

  • Help manage the appeals process for school district audits.
  • Guide school districts and CPA firms on how to file appeal and understand outcomes.
  • Lead the development of the K-12 Audit Guide used by auditors across California.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies like the Department of Education and State Controller's Office.
  • Organize public meetings and make sure we follow state open meeting laws.
  • Oversee purchasing, facilities planning, and internal operations.
