Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (PACU RN) Variable Shifts | Contract
We are seeking experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurses for a 26-week contract assignment with a variable schedule. This role is ideal for critical-care trained nurses who excel in fast-paced post-operative environments and are flexible with shift assignments, including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.

On-call requirement: 0 3 shifts per month (8-hour nights or 24-hour weekends/holidays)
No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
Monitor and assess post-anesthesia patients for stability, complications, and pain management
Evaluate incision sites, vital signs, body temperature, and overall recovery status
Administer medications and treatments per anesthesia and surgical protocols
Utilize critical-thinking skills to identify and respond to post-operative complications
Accurately document patient care and outcomes using the electronic medical record
Collaborate with anesthesiology, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary staff
Maintain a safe, organized PACU environment and ensure proper use of equipment
Equipment & Systems Used:
EPIC (EMR)
Meditech
PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps
Cryocuff, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
Bair Paws warming systems
HP and Phillips patient monitors
Required Qualifications:
Active Hawaii RN license (must be active by the start of the assignment; travelers must apply upon offer acceptance if not already licensed)
Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience or
At least 2 years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting
Strong post-anesthesia assessment and critical-care skills
Certifications:
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
PALS (AHA) preferred and may be required
Additional certifications such as NIHSS or TNCC may be preferred
Additional Requirements:
Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to assignment
Must arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health onboarding
Holiday coverage may be required
