Job Description

Summary

An External Systems Integrator for Quality Management Informatics is responsible for aiding the Quality Management Data Engineer in sourcing data from systems which are external to MedPOINT, but which hold information that is critical for HEDIS and Risk Adjustment advantages. The efforts in integrating information from external systems will enable the Quality Management Specialists to use the most accurate quantitative & qualitative data points to understand the patients and providers at a level that is incomparable in the industry. Responsibilities of the position include partnering with our Quality Management Specialists to help gain awareness of and access to the various Health Centers EHR systems; and partnering with the Quality Management Data Engineer to aid in sourcing data from other client-pertinent systems such as (but not limited to) Immunization Registries, Pharmacy Benefit managers, Health Plans, Dental Benefit Managers, and Vision Benefit Managers. As new criteria or business needs originate, the need to capture those new data points becomes immediately business critical. A key aspect of this position is an expertise in how these systems (namely EHRs) are used from the client perspective, and where information is atypically captured -so that we may best capture new requirements with the highest efficacy. Strong familiarity with Quality Management metrics and efforts is also critical to the success in this role.  

 

The primary objective of this position is to ensure that MedPOINT maintains a competitive advantage in the Quality Management arena by enabling MedPOINT to capture & integrate proprietary data on our members and providers in ways that allow MedPOINT to have the most comprehensive data sourcing available in the industry. This position will report directly to the Quality Management Sr. Supervisor, Clinical Analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Directly Support the Quality Management Leadership Team by ensuring that information regarding ongoing progress with both projects and upcoming changes data sourcing are communicated appropriately, timely, and with the utmost professionalism. Managing those efforts to ensure that this is the case.
  • Directly Support the Quality Management Department by ensuring the timely, comprehensive, and accurate implementation of the integration of new data requirements.
  • Directly Support the Quality Management Department by vigilantly seeking out information on potential new requirements and proposing the means by which we may source the data needed to meet those regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Quality Management Specialists to help obtain access to Health Center EHR systems and help manage and monitor the process by which access is granted and utilized.
  • Partner with the Quality Management Data Engineer to help obtain access to other external data sources as identified and needed. 
  • Create “Point-of-Sale” Training Videos, and Visual Aids & Workflows to help summarize and communicate complex processes to the business and to clients. 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including data flow diagrams, project plans, thorough code commenting, and process lists to allow others to follow, repeat, and implement your work.
  • Assist in the deployment and release of Low Code Applications, Dashboards, as well as assisting in the automation of proprietary Member, Claim, and Provider Detail Lists.
  • Mentor, support, and partner with Quality Management Analysts, Information Technology Peers, and Finance Analysts. 
  • Assist teammates with the development of applications and reports as requested.
  • Spend one hour per week in ongoing technological development, focusing on the future needs of the business such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Lake structures. Share a summary of this weekly knowledge with the Quality Management Sr. Supervisor, Clinical Analytics.
  • Spend one hour per week in ongoing Quality Management development, focusing on the industry trends and future needs of the business involving the State of California’s performance expectations, NCQA performance standards, Medicare Stars performance standards, and AMP performance standards. Share a summary of this weekly knowledge and industry updates with the Quality Management Sr. Supervisor, Clinical Analytics.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • BS in Healthcare Management, or Trade School Graduate in Technology Preferred
  • 2+ Years in Electronic Health system usage from end-user perspective
  • 5+ Years in General Data Analysis, Medical Data Analysis preferred
  • 5+ Years in HEDIS and Risk Adjustment Data Analysis in a managed care environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills to qualify for this position.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of Electronic Health Record Systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Data Mapping
  • Working knowledge and understanding of T-SQL
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Visio
  • Familiarity with HEDIS reporting
  • Familiarity with Medicare and STAR ratings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently with little to no assistance from other teammates
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within expected timeframes
  • Excellent organizational skills for own work
  • Ability to communicate succinctly and effectively for the benefit of the team
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting tasks and deadlines for self

Salary Range:

  • $78,000-$95,000 annually
