Job Summary: The Powder Coat Operator B is responsible for setting up and operating manual and auto paint equipment used for painting various components on a moving conveyor line. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for loading, unloading, masking, and unmasking parts on the conveyor line Set up and operate manual and auto paint equipment for various components on a moving conveyor line. Mask and unmask parts according to the process sheet. Spray off debris from the parts on the line as they come through. Identifies and controls parts in the process and rejected parts. Inspect parts for defects. Vacuum residual water from cabinets after washing when needed. Load parts on pallets for shipping. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and regulations. Applying various powder coatings per manufacturers' requirements on various castings and stampings. Ensure all work produced in the environmentally controlled paint room meets customers' quality expectations. Provide input for new ideas to improve the line density of products while maintaining top quality for customers. Assist in other duties as required. Required Skills/Abilities: Attention to detail and alter to ensure safety. Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, shop orders, bill of materials, procedures, safety instructions, and machine manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Education and Experience: 1-3 years of related experience or training required. Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Charles Industries weight rule: 35 lbs. and under can be lifted alone. 35 - 50 lbs. can be lifted by one person if they feel comfortable doing so. 50 lbs. or more requires the employee to get assistance or use a lifting device. (i.e. pallet jack, forklift, scissor table, buddy system). Vision abilities required are close, peripheral, and depth. Must have the ability to recognize color. Pass the annual Respiratory Fit Testing. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions. Employees regularly work near moving, vibrating mechanical equipment, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and exposed to minimal risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually loud; hearing protection and testing are required. Safety shoes/boots are required. A hood in the paint booth is required. Working in the Powder Coating and/or Fab department requires employees to work around chemicals, as defined in the work instructions for the powder coating and/or plating operation areas.
