Part Time Shelter Monitor| 3rd Shift

McKinney TX (75069) | Onsite

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED required

• Experience working with the homeless population highly preferred

• Ability to work overnight shifts as scheduled during shelter activations

• Strong interpersonal and observation skills to manage diverse populations safely

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Prior experience in a shelter, nonprofit, or human services environment

• Conflict de-escalation and crisis intervention training

• Familiarity with basic sanitation and facility maintenance procedures

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• Pay: $15/hour
• Schedule: 8PM-8AM (when shelter is activated during cold weather periods | 40 degrees)
• Employment Type: Part-Time, Seasonal through March 31, 2026

ROLE IMPACT

• Supports a vital community initiative providing emergency shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness during cold weather events
• Ensures the safety, comfort, and order of guests overnight by maintaining facility cleanliness, enforcing shelter rules, and upholding a respectful environment
• Success in this role directly contributes to guest well-being and smooth nightly operations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and monitor facility during overnight hours when shelter is activated (temperatures below 40°F for 4+ hours)
• Maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment throughout shift
• Distribute, collect, and sanitize cots, blankets, and towels
• Conduct bathroom and lobby checks every 2 hours
• Ensure all guests exit facility
• Ensure sleeping areas are cleaned
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support shelter operations

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work performed in a shelter/gym setting with moderate physical activity (standing, walking, light cleaning)
• May require lifting up to 25 lbs. (blankets, supplies)
• Exposure to varying indoor temperatures and high guest volume during activations
