Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Analyze machine functionality and develop detailed functional specifications.

  • Design complete electrical systems for custom machinery.

  • Select appropriate electronic components and hardware.

  • Create electrical panel layouts and related documentation.

  • Produce schematics and all required engineering drawings.

  • Manage workload proactively to meet design and release deadlines.

  • Collaborate closely with controls programmers to ensure machine functionality aligns with specifications.

  • Support service and assembly teams with electrical debugging during machine build and occasionally at customer sites.

  • Identify and report machine or facility safety concerns to the department manager.

  • Develop and maintain electrical standards for panel construction and machine assembly.

  • Contribute to the creation of service and operating manuals.

  • Participate in research and development efforts for new products.

  • Assist controls programmers with software testing for new product concepts.

  • Support the Service Department with troubleshooting via phone or on-site at customer facilities.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; or a two‑year technical degree plus five years of experience in electrical control systems.

  • Experience or familiarity with SolidWorks preferred.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required.

 

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical drawings and engineering software outputs.

  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL 508A standards.

  • Understanding of mechatronics, machine control sensing, and servo sizing.

  • Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to support assembly personnel and colleagues with machine function and design questions.
